6 Drugstore Makeup Items You Need to Try

It's about time for another beauty related post and I have some new drugstore beauty favorites to share with you. The most common statement I hear from friends regarding purchasing makeup is that they have no idea what to buy. Regardless of whether you are at Sephora or Walgreens, there is A LOT of stuff!

Here are some short reviews of drugstore products I am loving so you have some goodies to look for next time you find yourself in the drugstore.

Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation - $9.99 (available at drugstores, Walmart, Target, etc.)

This foundation came out earlier this year and despite seeing some really favorable reviews, I couldn't bring myself to buy a Covergirl foundation. My Kroger had them on clearance recently and oddly enough, they had my color.

This foundation is incredibly long lasting, has a nice finish, blends beautifully and I love any drugstore foundation with a pump dispenser. Another plus is that is doesn't settle into fine lines and pores. I'm SOLD.

Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighter - $7-$9 (available at drugstores, Walmart, Target, etc.)

If you have dark under-eye circle (aka - if you happen to have kids of any age) this is a great product to try. It blends nicely concealing dark under eye circles and brightening the  entire under eye area. My only complaint about this product is that there isn't a whole lot in the tube, so I tend to go through them quickly. Still it is a great product and has replaced ALL of my previous under eye concealers.

L'Oreal Le Matte Lip Color - $6-$8 (available at drugstores, Walmart, Target, etc.)

Matte lips are really popular for fall right now, but lates face it. Matte lipstick is not pleasant to wear. I picked up one of these in Matte-r of Fact (bottom color) on a whim and was really surprised by how easy these are to wear. They are quite comfortable and the colors are fantastic. The precise tip makes it easy to apply these statement colors and a bold lip is an easy way to update your look. Step out of the box ladies. This stuff is hot and won't come off on the hubs ;)

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Branded - $6 (available at drugstores, Walmart, Target, etc.)

I mention a Color Tatto almost every time I do a drugstore makeup post. I find myself reaching for this one almost daily because it makes a fantastic eye shadow base and looks nicely on its own with just a little color in the crease. Incredibly easy to apply and wears all day. Maybelline is introducing MATTE versions of these and I cannot wait.

Wet N Wild Megalast Nail Color - $1.99 (available at drugstores, Walmart, Target, etc.)

I LOVE this formula of nail polish! I have quite a few colors from this line and every single one has been a home run. Plus at only $1.99 you can afford to have a major nail polish collection! The brush is quite wide which makes the polish go on less streaky. It is incredibly long lasting and wears just as well as my Julep polish (my fave high end brand). You will NOT be disappointed.

Milani Baked Blush in Dolce Pink - $7 (available at drugstores, Walmart, Target, etc.)

Milani Cosmetics are getting harder to find where I live so when I was in Kansas City I made sure to stop at a CVS to grab this particular color that I have been wanting. I have this blush in Corallina as well. This is a perfect dusty rose/pink/mauve colored blush. Not to pink, not too brown, perfect for fall. These are baked blushes so they have some shimmer which means I don't have to apply a highlight powder when I use these. They can be a little scary in the packaging, but they are GORGEOUS on. Plus the packaging is spot on.

I hope you found this informative and I would love to get some feedback on what you want to see in another beauty post.

Stay lovely and have a happy Tuesday!

  3. I tried that foundation and I'm not a fan, it does this weird drying thing on my face ends up looking like cracked dried ground when you look close up. I have a whole, brand new bottle I can't use. :-(

    1. That's a bummer :( How are you applying it? With thick foundations like this one I find that they always apply best when buffed in using a brush (I use a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush). For thinner formulas I use a beauty blender.

    2. I tried a buffing brush, an angled foundation brush, a cosmetic sponge, and my fingers. So, I just don't know lol.
