Aside from all things crafty, I really love makeup. It was one of my first creative outlets. And I really love buying high end makeup, but let's face it. The thrill of dropping $75 at Sephora to walk out with two items isn't as thrilling as spending $30 at the drugstore and leaving with LOTS more.
Everything you buy may not be a favorite (same goes for high end) but here is my take on some of my latest drugstore acquisitions.
1. Powder - Revlon Photoready Powder - $10.99
I am quickly becoming addicted to the Photoready line. I ran out of my Benefit Flawless Powder and had no $$ for the $28 price tag. I tried this on a whim (I LOVE the eye brightening pen) and if you are looking for a powder with a great flawless, invisible finish with coverage. This is it.
2. Eyeshadow Palette - Revlon Photoready in Bohemian - $8.99
This is the only NAY in my little review here. I was really disappointed with the palette which boasts a primer, 3 shadows and a glitter overlay. Poor staying power, the glitter goes everywhere and I don't even know what the point of the primer was.
3. Mascara - Maybelline Falsies - $6-$7
I have been adventurous with mascara
lately. After using CG Lash Blast forever, I wanted a new tube to look
at and have found some new faves and this is one of them. Great lash
definition and builds nicely, no clumpies either :) The only con would be the flexibility of the brush. But if you start at the tips of your lashes instead of at the roots, it helps alot.
4. Bronzer/Contour Powder - Wet n Wild Coloricon Bronzer - $3.99
Wet n wild is the hidden gem of cheap makeup. Not everything is amazing, but a great deal of it is. I use this as a contour powder and normally I wouldn't use one with shimmer, but the shimmer in this does not show on the skin. Huge compact, a little goes a long way, stays all day, $4, need I say more?
5. Maybelline Eyestudio Palette in Legendary Lilac - $9.99
This is an older palette of mine, but definitely a favorite. Gorgeous colors that blend easily and stay put all day. A slightly pricier palette (for drugstore brands), but definitely worth it. There are a lot of great Eyestudio palettes too!
I hope you found this helpful, all of these great products are proof that you can look amazing while saving, which means you can spend the extra $$$ on a great dress...or shoes...or whatever!
